Every year, Halloween seems to sneak up on me.

It’s not a huge deal for us for costumes so far, because mainly my kids dress up from things they already own, but when it comes to goodies to pass out, sometimes I get caught in the lurch.

Saved by Amazon Prime – I can order goodies and they’ll be at my doorstep in 2 days, so as long as I remember to order by the 28th or so, I’m good to go.

My family also participates in the Teal Pumpkin Project – passing out allergen-free goodies to the kids who come trick-or-treating at our house. There are some allergen-free candies out there, but we prefer to pass out non-food Halloween treats instead.

No, not toothbrushes… we hand out really cool stuff, and my kids and the neighborhood kids really enjoy what we choose.

Did Halloween sneak up on you this year? Don’t worry about it. I’ve got you covered.

Coloring Books – My kids love coloring books, and they’re excited to share them with the neighbors too. This year we got these, which aren’t Halloween themed. That way, if we have leftovers we can use them for other times of the year too. But these Halloween ones are cute too.

  1. Great tips! I was actually just reading about how much exercise it takes to burn off the calories from 1 fun size candy bar, not that kids are thinking about that, but parents should be whether for themselves or for the health of their children.

We hardly eat any candy here. When I was younger (much younger) I remember getting excited over the non-candy items. This is a great idea, especially given how much junk is in candy.
